Suar Al-Qur'an (Lessons & Pivots)
Episodes No: 200. Episode Duration: 30 Min. Available on: Digital Video Cassette.
This program tries to break the traditional relationship between Muslims and Allah’s Book, and to put Muslims face to face with facts and realities of the Holy Quran that have been long ignored despite the repeated recital thereof. This program strives to establish a new relationship and friendship between the reader and Allah’s Book, so that the recital thereof may be that which pleases Allah, All-Mighty: a fruitful beneficial recital which makes out of the Quranic conceptions a whole system of life and a reality in which a Muslim believer lives like his venerable ancestors of the early Muslims. For more benefit, we enlist bellow the main Headings and entries of this program, with a briefing of the contents thereof, in order to make it easy for the readers or listeners to deal therewith. After a short introduction to the Surah, there comes the following items:
1- Name of The Surah: This heading deals with the names of the Surahs; such names may be taken from Prophetic Hadith, sayings of the Prophet’s venerable Companions or scholars of Quranic interpretation. It also includes a briefing of the names in which they are called in modern versions of the Holy Quran.
2- Prophetic Hadith Relevant to The Surah: Under this heading are mentioned the Prophetic Hadith that have to do with each Surah of the Holy Quran, its Verses, reasons for revelation (of the Surah or its Verses), or merits of the Surah.
3- Relevace of The Surah to The Previous One: The arrangement and order of the Surahs in the Holy Quran is Revelation-specific, i.e. sent down by Allah, All-High. This means that such an order contains features of wisdom and benefit a lot of which have been spotted and recorded by interpreters of the Holy Quran. Moreover, this program includes mention of the relevance between each one of the Surahs and the previous one, and quite often between the different topics of the same Surah.
4- Summary of The Topics of The Surah: This heading includes a briefing of the topics of the whole Surah, which is very important, as it may help the reader recognize the connection between the topics of the Surah and its general environment, which makes it much easier to understand.
5- Pivot of The Surah: This heading includes mention of the main lesson of the Surah and the pivot around which all its Verses turn. This is because each one of the Surahs of the Holy Quran constitutes a whole coherent and integrated unit. Surat Al-Baqarah, for example, seems to have too many detached topics that have nothing to do with one another. But deliberation proves the opposite, for all its numerous topics, no matter how diverse and detached they may seem to be, go round one focal point or pivot that brings unity to the whole Surah. The program includes mention of the pivots of the Surahs in the form of headings or titles. Then, all of the topics of the Surah are linked to such a pivot to show its unity and congruity and to unveil the main objective which the Surah is meant to achieve, on the basis of what has been recorded in the different books of Quranic interpretation written by exegetes who have lived with the Holy Quran word by word. In this context, it should be noticed that Quranic stories related in each Surah confirm its pivot. For instance, relating a certain scene of the story of Moses (PBUH) with his people in any Surah is not by any means aimless. It is most carefully and deliberately chosen so as to suit and confirm the Surah’s main lesson. The scene of the story of Moses with his people in Surat Taha, for example, differs considerably from the scene of the same story depicted in Surat Al-Baqarah, because each scene has its own role to play in the context of the Surah in which it is depicted. Therefore, all of the Verses of each Surah turn round its pivot in order to confirm and consolidate it.
6- Lessons of The Surah: For more benefit, certain Verses of the Surah are chosen to be the lesson of the Surah, which is elaborated to give more interest and benefit to the readers and listeners.
To wrap up, this program is but a humble contribution on the part of those who have worked thereon to the improvement of the relationship between believers and Allah’s Book. O Allah! Decree Reward for those who have worked on, or benefited from, this program, and make it totally consecrated to Your Face, Most Gracious.
